The Raspberry Pi is single board computer (SBC) small in size that you can carry on your hand with no any operating system pre-installed in it. It is necessary to install a operating system for Raspberry Pi device for running this mini computer for your work. The installation of operating system in Raspberry Pi can be done through a SD card via built-in SD card slot. There are 6 things you required before you install the operating system in Raspberry Pi mini computer.

1) Raspberry Pi Mini Computer,
2) SD Card of 3 GB,
3) Internet Enabled PC and SD Card Reader,
4) USB Keyboard,
5) HDMI Monitor,
6) Operating System you want to install.

It is also to remember here that the Raspberry Pi mini computer is based on ARM hardware and does not support Microsoft Windows or Apple OS X and will support only the OS which has been optimized specially for that device like Linux Kernel, Soft Float Debian Wheezy.

Now connect the Raspberry Pi to your TV via HDMI port and make first boot for the device with display of Setup mode by commanding sudo raspi-config, then resize the file system for SD card and set your time zone for Raspberry Pi and use the User name for device “pi” and Password “raspberry”. After this step, your mini computer is ready to install the operating system for further use.
