The war started from April, 19, 2014 when some un-identified gunmen fired on renowned Geo News senior journalist Hamid Mir when he was coming to Karachi for coverage of arrival of Gen (R) Pervaiz Musharraf. After that incident, the GEO News blamed on reference to Hamir Mir's brother Aamir Mir that ISI is involved in this attack. After broadcasting these allegations live on Geo News, the ISPR denied any involvement in this attack and demanded for independent inquiry regarding this gunfire on Hamir Mir.

After that GEO Management has admitted their mistake to broadcasting such allegations against Pakistan Army and Pakistani and World's top spy intelligence Agency ISI (Inter Services Intelligence). Now the final and latest decision made by PEMRA is that to suspend the GEO's license for 15 days till 20 June 2014 by not disclosing the reality of this conflict between Government, Intelligence Agency and the Media Group. The other local channels are distributed sweets to their workers for banning the GEO News.
