1. Adjust the seat
First, adjust the seat so that you can push the pedals to the bottom without having to stretch your leg to the maximum. The knee should remain slightly bent. Then adjust the tilt of the backrest. If the steering wheel is deeply adjustable - today they are all adjustable at height - it will be easier to find the ideal compromise between the angle of the back and the distance from the steering wheel. Once the right shoulder is well supported on the back rest and the arm is outstretched, the palm of the hand should be able to close naturally on the top of the steering wheel. Thus, when the hands are placed on either side of the steering wheel, the arms will be barely bent.
2. Adjust the angle of the steering wheel
Once in position with your back straight, adjust the back angle or horizontal setting again so that your right hand, if you have a car with a manual gearbox, can grasp the pommel. We are talking about a few millimetres.
3. Adjust the rearview mirror
Ready to go? Not so fast! There's still the rear-view mirrors. The one inside should cover the rear bezel and not be used for make-up or to monitor children. To adjust the left exterior mirror to minimize blind spots, tilt your head to the left and rotate until the rear wing of the car is no longer visible. Same goes for the rearview mirror on the right. By preventing fatigue and maximizing visibility around, a good driving position optimizes the safety of all passengers. Now on the track!
