Oenotourism is the unique opportunity to visit France differently. Discover the vineyards and small picturesque villages of France where the best wines are produced: Burgundy wine, Bordeaux wine, Côte du Rhône wine or Alsace wine. But with such a heritage and so many regions, the wine route of France may seem too complicated for some. Thus, to simplify the task, we have created a wine list of France not exhaustive in order to guide you in the midst of all these French wine regions. We have sorted them by region: Champagne, Alsace, Bourgogne, Rhône, Languedoc, Bordeaux and Val de Loire. So you can choose to focus on a single region or combine several to prolong the fun.

1. Champagne
Our wine route begins in Champagne where we make the most precious wine: Champagne! Once you arrive in Reims, you can explore this hilly region, planted with forests of Oaks and beeches, villages and castles that testify to the history of this timeless drink.
To see around Reims: the vineyards of Reims are located in the heart of the National Park of the Montagne de Reims, in a semi-mountainous environment. Visit renowned wineries such as Veuve-Cliquot, Ruinart or Taittinger.
To see around Epernay: the main attraction of Epernay lies in the underground of the city. Indeed, there are kilometers of underground galleries that contain among the best bottles in the world. You will find among others the famous houses Moët and Chandon and Dom Pérignon.
The bar coast: the Côte des bar is located in the South of the Champagne region and connects bar-sur-Seine with bar-sur-Aube. You can also visit Essoyes, Mussy-sur-Seine and the Riceys. This region produces a quarter of the total production of the champagne appellation area.

2. Alsace
We take our wine route again with Alsace, the region most popular for its vineyards, with no less than 10 million of tourists in 2016! Alsace has the particularity of benefiting from an influence over Rhine which offers very singular grape varieties such as Riesling or Gewurztraminer. Note: Alsace produces 90% white wine (red wine lovers abstain!)
To see around Strasbourg: Discover Dahlenheim where is produced the famous Grand Cru of Engelberg, the small village of Molsheim accessible by train, where you can enjoy an excellent sauerkraut, and Kuttolsheim Finally, just 20 minutes from Strasbourg. Also visit Obernai and Ribeauvillé, descending South towards Colmar. To not miss anything from the Alsatian capital, follow our advice to visit Strasbourg.
To see around Colmar: start first by visiting Colmar where you can make wine tourism in the city! Indeed at the Domaine Martin Jund, the treatment of the harvest, the pressing of the grapes, the vinification and bottling take place in Colmar itself. We then advise you to stop at the Château de Beblenheim. Finally, finish with a visit to Guebwiller, located at the foot of the "Grand ballon", the highest peak of the Massif des Vosges. You can enjoy one of the 7 Grands Crus: Ollwiller, Saering, Kitterlé, Kessler, Spiegel, Pfingstberg, Zinnkoepflé.

3. Burgundy
Let's take our wine route towards the Côte d'Or Department in Bourgogne Franche Comté. From Dijon to Santennay, discover the route of the Grands Crus of Burgundy, also called "the Champs Elysees of Burgundy". To see around Dijon: descend from Dijon along the coast of the nights, starting with visiting Marsannay-la-Côte, then Gevrey-Chambertin until the Château du Clos Vougeot. Finally, finish with the famous Romanée Conti estate. If you still have some energy, last stopover advised at night-Saint-Georges. Don't forget to visit Dijon, following our expert advice.
To see around Chalon-sur-Saône: travel along the Côte Chalonnaise by stopping at the Château de Rully and then in Mercurey and Montany-lès-Buxy. Only 30 kilometers in total separate Rully from Montagny. Keep a little energy to take a break in Cluny by going back down to Mâcon, and visit its incredible medieval Abbey (909-1130).
To be seen around Mâcon: to finish this journey, take the route of the Mâconnais-Beaujolais wines. Start with the village of Chardonnay which gave its name to the famous grape variety. The road is marked with signs "follow the cluster". You can taste the great whites of exception such as: Mâcon, fired-Clessé, Pouilly-Fuissé, Pouilly-Loché, Pouilly-Vinzelles and Saint-Véran.

4. The Rhone
The wine route of the Côte du Rhône stretches along the two banks of the Rhone. You will find all kinds of wine: red, white, rosé, natural and sparkling wine! The wine of Côte du Rhône is very famous in particular the renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape. To see around Avignon: start your tour in Gigondas, then descend to Beaumes-de-Venezia and drive another half hour to the very famous village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Enjoy being in the area to see the famous Palais des Papes d'Avignon as well as the famous Pont d'Avignon. If you want to sink a little more into the land and discover lesser known areas, we advise you the Domaine de Pignan and the Domaine de la Selve.

5. The Languedoc
Direction the lands of Languedoc Roussillon to continue this route of non-exhaustive wines between vineyards buried in the land and Mediterranean. To see around Nîmes: discover the region Costières de Nîmes where you can visit more than 34 wine cellars. This region between Beaucaire and Saint-Gilles dominates the Plaine du Rhône and enjoys a dry and sunny climate, which gives excellent southern wines. It produces mainly red and rosé, the Red Costières de Nîmes being perfect to accompany a good Ratatouille.
To see around Montpellier: several itineraries are possible, but we recommend the route of the wines of the Hérault. Stop in Béziers, Narbonne, Corbières and Carcassonne. You will find many areas to visit in the Corbières, the Minervois or even in Faugères a little further north. But above all else, follow the Guide to visit Montpellier.
To see around Perpignan: visit the Esparrou Castle, located between the Mediterranean Sea and the pond of Canet. Take a stop in Saint-Estève, BANYULS, Rivesaltes and COLLIOURE, famous worldwide for their natural sweet wine. They are also very charming villages to visit.

6. The Bordelais vineyard
Bordeaux wine is undoubtedly one of the most famous in France. The Oenotourists from all over the world come to visit this French wine region to discover its culture, its traditions, its secrets of manufacture and of course to taste its wine! It is made of red wine (at 90%) whose main grape varieties in the region are Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Cabernet franc. But there are also white grape varieties such as Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle.
To see around Bordeaux: the Bordeaux region is divided into 5 subregions: the Médoc, the graves, the Sauternais, the right bank and the Entre-Deux-MERs. For the Grands Crus, visit the popular Château Margaux in the Médoc and the Château Petrus, Rive-droite. The wine route of Bordeaux in Saint-Émilion, Pomerol, Fronsac occupies the right bank and the northern part of the Entre-Deux-MERs. Take the opportunity to visit the medieval city of Saint-Émilion, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Finally, for lovers of fluffy white wine, direction Sauternes where a multitude of castles await you. Château D'yquem, Château RIEUSSEC and Château Climens are among the best Grands Crus in France.

7. The Loire Valley
The region is known for its wonderful castles that follow the course of the Loire. The wine route also follows the course of the river and takes you to an exhilarating journey in the midst of the vineyards between history and traditions. Here are the main points of interest of the route des vineyards in Val de Loire:
To see around Nantes: the Loire wine is very famous and differs greatly depending on the region. The closest region to Nantes is the Muscadet, you can drink the ideal white Muscadet with fish or seafood. Halfway between Angers and tours, cross Anjou and the Saumur region, known for its red wine appellation of origin controlled Saumur-Champigny.
